“ When they opened the service to the outside area, the number of tables increased, but I guess there was not the same increase in the number of waiters serving because after sitting at the table we had to wait a long time to order or request extra drinks with our meal. Apart from that, everything else; the atmosphere, the food and the presentation were very good. ”

“ A very nice place in the middle of the busiest area of Tübingen with a really nice option to sit outside and enjoy nice weather. It’s really nice renovated and looks super stylish inside. However, if you decide to sit inside and it’s busy it’s also getting quite noisy. Other than that the food is really good, we tried quite some of the main dishes and some of the starters. The starters were amazing! Check them out for sure! It’s a bit pricier but also a good quality. Would recommend! Edit: the service is a bit slow and less friendly than it was during summer :( ”

“ In Germany on a business trip with colleagues from the US. At the Gasthaus Bären we requested restaurants recommendations in the Tubingen area. The service staff suggested we give 1821 a try. After realizing we should check to see if reservations are required, we made a reservation on the website for 6 at 8:15pm. We were sat promptly upon arrival, and the service staff offered us a choice of 2 tables. The restaurant was relatively booked, but the section they put us in only had 1 table occupied so we were able to enjoy our evening and have great conversations. We translated the menu on the website to English, and made selections of cocktails and beer, the Burrata and Beef Tartare appetizer, and selected a range of dinner entrees, the truffle spatzle weiner schnitzel, one day in Bangkok, and rounded out the meal with the Botanical Garden and the highly coveted and suggested Apple Dessert. From the pouring of the Alchemist drink, prompt delivery and presentation of food, fresh ingredients, to the sweet endcap we enjoyed our evening, spending 2 hours relaxing. The staff boxed up our meal, gave us business cards to share the word, and offered us complimentary sweets for the road. We met the amazing chef Sander and Alean both took car of us, with a few others along the way. The promptly cleared each round of plates and cups, make great recommendations for us to try. Made us foreigners feel welcome and relaxed. The ambiance is a vibe, the lighting was relaxing, music was on but not distracting. It looked like there were private areas, and we were bummed that we didn't get a chance to check out the outdoor space. We will be telling our supplier to bring their future customers here for Business Dinners or Specialty occasions. Definitely a MUST visit place if you're in the area. It was only an 8 minute walk from our Hotel. Open surprisingly late in relation to the other restaurants in the area. ”
